GLOSSARY of Tantric Massage

  • BDSM

The term is an acronym for "Bondage and Discipline, Dominance and Submission, Sadism and Masochism" and encompasses all behaviors and encounters in the sexual realm that involve dominance, submission, pain experiences, and restraints. Elements of BDSM can be effectively combined with tantric massage encounters. In both cases, there is a clear role distribution (giving and receiving), and both require clear communication, presence, and mindfulness. The combination of tantric principles and gentle BDSM practices offers a unique experience that can be shaped in a variety of ways.

  • Chakra

In Tantric massage, we also use the concept of chakras when discussing a person's energy system. Chakras are energy centers located throughout the body; depending on the tradition, there can be up to 88,000 chakras. However, we usually refer to the seven main chakras, which lie along a vertical axis in the body: the root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown chakras. Each chakra is associated with specific life themes and bodily functions. In Tantric massage, they play a role in that holds are frequently applied at the level of the chakras, particularly at the connection between the sacral and heart chakras.

  • Ejaculation

Both men and women can ejaculate. Sexual stimulation triggers contractions of the sex glands. Male ejaculation is the forceful expulsion of semen through the urethra. Female ejaculation is still not fully understood. In particular, pleasurable touching of the G-spot can trigger ejaculation. Women often experience a sensation similar to needing to urinate. However, this is actually due to the formation of secretions in the glandular tissue, which can be released at the peak of sexual arousal and with strong stimulation. Ejaculation can be closely linked to orgasm in both men and women, but the two phenomena can also occur independently.

  • Energy work

The term is used in a variety of ways. It describes various therapeutic and supportive techniques, which can originate from alternative medicine, energy work, and touch. Qi Gong, body therapy, and yoga can all fall under this umbrella. Massage, as support for a person's physical and mental well-being, is also considered bodywork. The focus of bodywork is not on a wellness experience, but rather on providing support for specific issues. Our tantric massages can have a profound effect and also offer support in integrating psychological and physical conflicts. Sexological Bodywork is a particular form of bodywork.

  • Energy system

Tantric massage has its roots, among other things, in the spiritual tradition of Tantra. This tradition is based on a concept of the human energy system, comprised of the subtle body, the chakras, and the energy channels (nadis or meridians). Subtle energy, prana, or life force, flows through these channels. In other traditions, this energy is known, for example, as "chi." Tantric massage awakens this life force and distributes it throughout the body. The aim is to gradually maintain a higher level of energy within the body, as well as to be able to direct and utilize this energy in one's life. Even if this energy concept doesn't resonate with everyone receiving the massage, the unique ritual setting of Tantric massage involves a holistic approach that touches the entire body and creates a space of awareness that connects the individual body parts more deeply.

  • Goddess Point

The existence of the "Goddess Area" is still sometimes questioned. However, in our massage practice, we have yet to encounter a woman in whom this area could not be found. In the 1950s, Dr. Ernst Gräfenberg described the so-called G-spot. After numerous contacts and conversations with women, we refer to it as the Goddess Area. It lies approximately five centimeters behind the vaginal opening on the anterior vaginal wall and has a ribbed texture. This glandular tissue is very sensitive, although it is not aroused in every woman and is not pleasurable for every woman. Secretions are produced here when sexual stimulation occurs, which can be very pleasurable. Female ejaculation can be triggered via the Goddess Area.

  • Clitoris

Most people, when they hear the word "clitoris," immediately think of the visible and highly sensitive glans. However, the clitoris is much more than that—an internal organ that serves pleasure and consists of several parts. Visible parts include the glans clitoridis (the glans) and the prepuce (the foreskin, often called the hood or cap). These can vary considerably in size and appearance. You can feel the clitoral shaft (corpus clitoridis) above the glans in the surrounding tissue. The crura of the clitoris (crura clitoridis) spread out inside the body like an inverted Y from the shaft along the pelvic bone. The clitoris is surrounded by erectile tissue, which becomes more engorged with blood and swells when aroused. It is the male equivalent of the penis. The clitoris measures between 8.5 and 14.5 centimeters in length. The term comes from the Greek root word "kleitoris", which can be translated as "divine, famous, like the goddess".

  • Bodywork

The term is used in a variety of ways. It describes various therapeutic and supportive techniques, which can originate from alternative medicine, energy work, and touch. Qi Gong, body therapy, and yoga can all fall under this umbrella. Massage, as support for a person's physical and mental well-being, is also considered bodywork. The focus of bodywork is not on a wellness experience, but rather on providing support for specific issues. Our tantric massages can have a profound effect and also offer support in integrating psychological and physical conflicts. Sexological Bodywork is a particular form of bodywork.

  • Kundalini energy

This refers to a force within humans described in tantric texts. It is visualized as a serpent resting at the root chakra in the pelvic floor. It is said that when activated through spiritual practice, it awakens and, connecting all the chakras, rises to the crown chakra, bringing about enlightenment. An enlightened person is free from all blockages and open and ready for cosmic consciousness. A spontaneous awakening of Kundalini can be dangerous for unprepared individuals. To awaken Kundalini, there are techniques such as breathing exercises and energy channeling, which are practiced by tantric practitioners.

  • Lingam

In Sanskrit, "linga" means sign or symbol. As a symbol of the Hindu deity Shiva, Lingam represents his creative, preserving, and destructive power. At the same time, it is also the term used in Tantra for the penis. Like other words used in Tantric massage (e.g., Yoni), the term thus has a double meaning. In a man's Lingam, his connection to the divine masculine is revealed, and simultaneously, it is a respectful word for his genitals. The use of the term in the massage ritual contributes to a special atmosphere and a respectful attitude.

  • Lunghi

A lunghi is a garment traditionally worn by men in Southeast Asia, with different names depending on the region. Occasionally, for example in Kerale, India, women also wear lungis. In tantric massage rituals, all genders wear lungis, with men typically wrapping them around their hips and women tying them like a beach dress to cover their breasts. A lungi allows for freedom of movement, is quick to put on and take off, and is used to cover the recipient during a massage. Often, the slow and sensual removal of the lungi from the body is a particularly moving experience.

  • Meridians

The term is widely used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The Sanskrit equivalent would be "Nadi." In the concept of the human energy system, Nadi refer to the energy channels through which vital energy (Chi, Prana) flows in the body. These channels are interconnected via the Chakras. The most important energy channels are Sushumna, Ida, and Pingala.

  • Namaste

The Tantric massage ritual typically begins with Namaste. This greeting, common in India and among Hindus, is used both in everyday life and in religious practice within a sacred space. Namaste literally means "I bow to you" (Sanskrit) and represents the recognition of the divine in every person. The Namaste greeting not only honors the soul of the other person but also reminds and honors the divine spark within oneself. The greeting does not need to be spoken; the accompanying mudra (hand gesture)—bringing the hands together near the heart on the chest and slightly bowing the head—is sufficient.

  • Neo-Tantra

In the 1970s, interest in tantric traditions also increased in Western countries. Osho, formerly known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, played a key role in this development. He made tantra more accessible to people from Western cultures and combined elements of these traditions with exercises from body therapy and bioenergetics. The neo-tantric movements, which combine tantric tradition and Western bodywork knowledge, partly draw on Osho's teachings, while others pursue their own paths, especially since Osho and his circle have also been subject to considerable criticism. Traditional Tantra takes a different approach to tantra.

  • nervous system

The nervous system is divided into the central nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The latter regulates vital functions such as breathing, blood circulation, metabolism, and fluid balance. The sympathetic nervous system generally increases activity, while the parasympathetic nervous system decreases it. A well-regulated autonomic nervous system ensures intact vital functions. Stress, insufficient rest, or trauma affect the autonomic nervous system and disrupt its balance, which can lead to psychological and physical impairments. Bodywork and massage can be helpful in restoring balance to the autonomic nervous system.

  • orgasm

In the four-stage model of sexual response, orgasm follows the arousal and plateau phases. It is characterized by involuntary muscle contractions in the genital area, and the built-up sexual tension is released. Ejaculation or inejaculation usually occurs during this time. After the climax, the body relaxes again. Orgasms can be experienced very individually. The quality, intensity, and physical sensations of an orgasm can vary greatly from one person to another. For example, the terms "peak orgasm" and "valley orgasm" are often used. While a climax is often very pleasurable, sexual and sensual experiences without one can also have an orgasmic quality, and it can be helpful to enjoy orgasm less as a goal and more as a possible bonus.

  • Prostate

The male prostate gland is about the size of a walnut and lies between the bladder and the pelvic floor muscles. Along with the testicles and seminal vesicles, it also produces a portion of the seminal fluid. One function of the prostate muscles is to contract during ejaculation, thereby expelling the semen from the urethra, which runs partly through the prostate. The prostate is considered an important center in the human energy system, which is why it receives special attention in tantric massage. Massaging the prostate promotes good blood circulation in the pelvic area and can thus contribute to increased sensitivity. There is also a female anatomical counterpart to the male prostate (urethral erectile tissue, G-spot).

  • Reflex zones in yoni and lingam

Like your feet, hands, or ears, the lingam and yoni also have reflex zones. These are connected to specific organs. It is said that the reflex zones of the yoni are arranged so that they come into contact with the corresponding zones of the lingam during genital union. Massage also activates these reflex zones, allowing you to do holistic good for your body.

  • Ritual

A tantric massage has a ritual framework. This means there is a clear beginning and a clear end, both often marked by the Namaste greeting. This sets the experience apart from everyday life and creates a special atmosphere. The ritual includes the specific design of the space, the choice of words, and unusual clothing (lungi). For people who have little prior experience with spiritual tantra, some of the terminology might be confusing. However, embracing it and simply allowing the sensual and mindful ritual to work its magic can be a fascinating experience.

  • Shakti

In spiritual Tantra, Shakti is considered the cosmic energy. Everything manifest is Shakti, and all manifestation consists of the same energy, which is Shakti. As the goddess Shakti in Hinduism, she is also the symbol of the primordial feminine power of the universe. Shakti creates, sustains, and destroys, yet nothing is lost, for everything manifest is Shakti. Together with Shiva, her divine partner, who represents consciousness, she is frequently depicted in the Shiva-Shakti Puja, their sacred union. Matter needs consciousness, and consciousness needs matter. In Tantric massage, the recipient is worshipped in their manifest, conscious form, thus embodying both Shiva and Shakti within them.

  • Shiva

In different contexts, Shiva, like Shakti, has different meanings. Shiva is one of the principal deities in Hinduism, where he embodies the principle of destruction. According to tantric texts, Shiva and Shakti were originally one, and the universe sprang from them. In Tantrism, he represents consciousness. Unlike energy, which is his partner Shakti, he does not constantly change and form new manifestations. Rather, Shiva remains imperishable, eternal as universal consciousness.

  • sensuality

The term initially refers to receptivity to various sensory perceptions. This is contrasted with pure intellect. Many spiritual traditions focus on spiritualization, but in Tantrism, the physical, sensual component plays a significant role. Colloquially, sensuality is the pleasurable experience of the senses. The term is sometimes used synonymously with eroticism, but sensuality, particularly in the context of sensual interaction with another person, encompasses more. In the Tantric massage ritual, the various senses are addressed and stimulated, and the sensual experience is heightened, which can lead to increased perception and sensitivity.

  • Spirituality

The search for, turning towards, and subjectively experiencing a transcendent reality. Many different spiritual traditions have been partially codified into established religions. Tantric spirituality includes, among other things, the belief that everything is interwoven and connected, and that the principles of Shakti and Shiva (matter and consciousness) reside within every individual. Tantric spirituality can thus be a path to connect spiritual experience and practice with everyday life. Not all tantric massage therapists practice spiritual tantra, but their attitude towards the person in the ritual is a central component of this art of touch and repeatedly facilitates spiritual experiences during the massage.

  • Tantra

The origins of Tantra lie in prehistoric, matriarchal cultures, in a spirituality that celebrated sexuality as a life force and creative power. Over the course of history, these origins were appropriated, ideologically reshaped, and suppressed. Countless variations and sects emerged, which can also contradict one another. There is Hindu- and Buddhist-influenced Tantra, as well as traditional and less traditional forms. In the 1970s, Osho had a significant influence on the image of Tantra that still prevails in the West today and is referred to as "Neo-Tantra." Perhaps the essence of Tantra can be summarized as follows: the realization and experience that all opposites (male-female, sacred and sinful, body and mind, sexuality and prayer, creation and destruction, etc.) are actually one and the same.

  • Tantra massage

Tantric massage is not identical to Tantra, but it is inspired by a tantric approach. The ritualistic sequence, the inclusion of the entire body, the welcoming of all bodily and emotional expressions, and the view of sexuality as a life force make tantric massage a holistic massage experience. The clear role distribution between giver and receiver allows one to explore one's own body and sexual energy freely and without pressure, accompanied by a mindful, present person who creates and holds the space for new experiences.

  • Tantra Massage Association

The professional association TMV was founded in 2004. It represents massage therapists, massage practices, and tantric massage training institutes from German-speaking countries. In addition to providing external political representation, the TMV ensures the quality of tantric massage in its member practices through high standards in the continuing education of tantric massage therapists. In this way, the TMV's work contributes to raising awareness of tantric massage as an integral part of a mindful, sensual culture of touch and as a valuable contribution to a person's sexual health.

  • Tarisha

In German, the Sanskrit term tarīṣa means "boat" or "ship." The founder of our practice was Tarika, whose name could be translated as "ferrywoman." In Tantric massage, we take you on a very special journey. The journey to yourself is sometimes quiet, sometimes stormy, and sometimes we ride high waves together.

  • taoism

Taoism is a philosophy and worldview rooted in China. Lao Tzu is perhaps the most famous teacher of Taoism. Literally, Tao means "the way" and signifies the highest truth. A person who follows the Tao for happiness integrates into the cosmic whole and sees themselves as part of everything. In Taoism, one strives to flow with everything. Life energy should also flow, which can be supported by practices such as Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Tantra and Taoism share some similarities, but also significant differences. However, similar to Tantric massage, Taoist massage incorporates elements of Taoist spirituality and utilizes them in a mindful, holistic massage practice.

  • Transfiguration

If a tantric massage is a truly special experience, it may be because you are worshipped not as your everyday self, but as a manifestation of the divine. Tantric transfiguration is the ability to see the Goddess or God in every person you encounter and to worship them in such a way that every encounter becomes a service to the divine. At the same time, it is also the ability to recognize your own divine manifestation and cosmic consciousness within yourself. In this respect, tantric massage can be a spiritual practice.

  • The labia majora

The terms "labia majora" and "labia minora" are still commonly used. However, in many people with a vulva, the inner labia are larger than the outer labia, which is why we prefer the term "inner and outer lips." We also prefer to speak of Venus lips, pleasure lips, or vulvar lips, because shame is not the feeling we want to associate with this wonderful part of the body. Venus lips can look very different; the spectrum is wide, and all individual variations are normal and beautiful.

  • veneration

Especially in the initial ritual of Tantric massage, there are gestures of reverence, such as kneeling before the recipient. However, this attitude of reverence accompanies the entire Tantric massage ritual. The individual is accepted in their uniqueness, without any influence from appearance, personal preference, or history. The appreciation and loving support in the here and now stem from the certainty that the person is exactly right as they are. From a spiritual Tantric perspective, the recipient—like every human being—is an embodiment of Shiva and/or Shakti, and thus the Tantric massage ritual transcends the encounter between two people and acquires a transfigurative dimension.

  • Yin and Yang

The principle of Yin and Yang is the foundation for balance in nature in the Taoist tradition. Yin and Yang are present in everything, two poles that influence each other: sun and moon, active and passive, soft and hard, feminine and masculine. Yang is considered "masculine," Yin "feminine." These poles are in constant flux. In everything perceived as masculine, there is something feminine; in everything perceived as feminine, there is something masculine. The balance between these poles harmonizes the human energy system.

  • Yoni

The term Yoni comes from Sanskrit and means "origin." Besides the vulva, vagina, pelvic floor, uterus, and ovaries, Yoni also encompasses the energetic womb space. Thus, the word includes the physical manifestation of female genitalia and simultaneously transcends it. Yoni represents the feminine creative force, and the womb space the connection to the divine feminine. The term is used in Tantric massage because it carries a respectful connotation, and there are few German terms for female genitalia that are not perceived as either medical, euphemistic, or derogatory.

FAQs about Tantric Massage

General questions about tantric massage

  • Isn't a tantric massage essentially cheating? I've been in a relationship for a long time, but our sex life has become stagnant/unsatisfying. I long for physical touch, but I don't want to cheat.

No, enjoying a tantric massage is not cheating. The massage is entirely about you and experiencing your own sensuality. There is no mutual erotic touching during the massage; it is primarily an encounter with yourself. However, to truly embrace this experience, we recommend honesty with your partner. Open up a conversation in your relationship and communicate your needs. Perhaps your partner is also open to new forms of touch, and you can embark on a journey of exploration together. You might even bring home a feeling of nourishment and contentment from your tantric massage, which will have a positive impact on your relationship.

  • Am I too old for this type of massage?

No one is too old for touch and sensual experiences. For a massage, it doesn't matter if you're 20, 40, or 80 years old; everyone over 18 is welcome. We'll discuss any personal challenges you may have and how to address them. For example, if you can no longer comfortably lie on your stomach, we'll adjust the massage accordingly. No matter what stage of life you're in, you're welcome at Tarisha.

  • I have physical limitations; is the massage still suitable for me?

A tantric massage is suitable for everyone. Please mention this when booking, and we will address your individual needs. Tarisha is wheelchair accessible, and we can massage either on a futon on the floor or on a massage table. The massage sequence can also be adapted to your individual requirements. In most cases, we can accommodate your needs.

  • I can't lie on my back for long periods of time. Can I still get a massage at Tarisha?

Yes, you can get a massage with us. We make sure that every guest feels as comfortable as possible. This includes discussing any preferences beforehand. Perhaps you'll want to turn over several times during your massage, or perhaps you'll be massaged while sitting – we'll find ways to ensure your massage is a truly holistic experience of touch.

  • Can intercourse, oral sex, or other mutual sexual acts occur during the massage?

No. Tantric massage is a sensual ritual of veneration. The touch is one-sided; the invitation is for you to connect with yourself, your body, and your inner experience. Sexual energies are welcome, and your massage therapist will also support you in your sexual experience. However, sexual acts like those mentioned above have no place in this setting and will not take place.

  • I have erection problems or sometimes ejaculate too quickly. Can I still receive a tantric massage?

In Tantric massage, you are welcome just as you are. In Lingam massage, your genitals are touched lovingly, mindfully, and respectfully. Whether you have an erection or not is irrelevant to this type of touch. You are perfect just as you are. An erection arises naturally from relaxation. Clients often find that they experience fewer problems with erections during these massages than in other settings. This also offers the opportunity to explore new experiences. The touches in Lingam massage are not goal-oriented; the aim is not to achieve ejaculation. If you sometimes ejaculate "too soon," the distribution of energy throughout your body, the variation of pressure, speed, and massage techniques, and communication with the therapist can help you remain aroused for a longer period. A Tantric massage can therefore be a wonderful place for you to explore and rediscover yourself.

  • I have trouble showing myself naked. How is this handled in massage therapy?

When you come to us for a massage, we begin with a detailed consultation. Share any concerns or issues you may have with your massage therapist. They will handle them sensitively. This initial conversation will help build trust, and together you'll discuss what you'd like to focus on. Perhaps you'd prefer to be naked only while lying down, with just the parts of your body being massaged uncovered. You might find that during the massage, our respectful and non-judgmental approach creates a space where nudity feels less like a source of shame. Body weight and appearance are not important to us during the massage, but we respect your boundaries and will work together to find ways for you to feel comfortable and enjoy your massage.

  • Will I have an orgasm during an intimate massage?

Lingam and yoni massage are not goal-oriented. Your intimate area will be touched with respect, mindfulness, and in tune with what your body is experiencing. The intimate massage may be very calm and relaxing; you might not get an erection, and your genitals may simply enjoy being touched without sexual desire. This can be a very special experience. It's equally okay if you feel a high degree of arousal and the energy of the massage carries you to an orgasm—with or without ejaculation. In tantric massage, you remain in the moment, enjoying what is present. Every massage can unfold differently; let go of expectations and trust that you will have the right experience for you.

  • May I touch the person who touches me?

Tantric massage often creates a high degree of closeness and intimacy. It's understandable that a desire for mutual touch arises. This reflects a behavior we learned in our sexual socialization. However, this would deprive you of an even deeper space of sinking into yourself. In tantric massage, you are simply allowed to enjoy touch, absorb all the different variations of touch, and surrender to this encounter and to being held. Let go of the idea of wanting to give something back and have new experiences. When you can fully receive, your massage therapist can fully give, and the magic of tantric massage can work its magic.

  • I don't feel much during sex. Could a tantric massage help me become more sensitive?

A tantric massage opens the space for new sensory experiences. If you feel little during sex, this can have a variety of causes. Discuss this in your initial consultation so your massage therapist can guide you through the massage, helping you explore and perhaps gain new experiences. We often touch our genitals in the same way over and over again. Perhaps different techniques, slower touch, and a longer duration of touch would be beneficial for you, allowing you to become more attuned to your sensations. Some recipients of tantric massages have found that they actually become more sensitive with regular tantric touch. However, it might also be beneficial for you to first book a sex coaching session and work more deeply on the topic.

  • What happens if strong emotions arise during my massage?

In a massage, you are welcome with everything that may arise. The way you are supported, the space your massage therapist creates, can be deeply moving, and even old issues may surface. If this happens, your therapist will accompany your experience without judgment, holding you, valuing you, and continuing to touch you. Feelings in a tantric massage often come in waves. Something wants to be acknowledged, perhaps even manifesting as a strong reaction (crying, shouting, stamping, etc.), but then it subsides, and another feeling may emerge. Tantric massage can be helpful in processing personal issues, as it allows these themes to surface and be acknowledged on a physical level. So don't hide your emotions when they arise; share them and experience being supported in this process as well.

  • I'm not sure if I want to be touched intimately by a stranger. Is there a way to get to know my masseuse beforehand?

It can be challenging to confide in a stranger as much as you do in a tantric massage. That's why it's important to us that you have the opportunity to talk beforehand. So, we recommend getting information by phone rather than email. This way, you can get a first impression of the approach we take towards our guests at Tarisha. Also, take a look at our "About Us" page. Here you can find details about the team, see photos of our rooms, and read the history of our institute. The guestbooks from our massage therapists also offer insight into our methods and the feelings many of our guests experience.

  • What if I get my period before or during the massage?

Your period is no obstacle to receiving a tantric massage. Talk to your massage therapist about how you both feel about it. Perhaps you'd prefer just an external yoni massage? Or maybe an internal massage using a soft tampon? For many massage therapists, it's perfectly fine to give a full yoni massage even during your period, while the recipient allows the flow to begin. This can be a particularly touching experience of acceptance and appreciation of feminine power. Listen to your body and what you need during your period, and communicate with your massage therapist. In tantric massage, everything is welcome, and sometimes fluids will begin to flow when relaxation, time, and touch invite it. You are welcome to receive massage as a menstruating person!

  • My massage therapist doesn't meet my physical preferences. How do I deal with this?

It's best to simply let the judgment slide. Tantric massage isn't about appearance, but about creating a space of mutual respect and appreciation where you are welcomed in your entirety and touched with mindfulness. For this, rapport and trust are essential. Categories like weight or looks are secondary. It's not about a sexual encounter involving mutual touch; rather, you are invited to deeply experience and enjoy yourself through the support and touch of the practitioner. Perhaps you will have a completely new experience and realize how unimportant appearance is in creating a loving and sensual atmosphere.

Questions about massage practice

  • What oils are used for the massage?

We use cold-pressed organic oil without any additives. It feels wonderful and nourishes your skin at the same time. If you know you have an allergy to any oil, please be sure to let us know before your massage.

  • What hygiene standards apply in practice?

Hygiene is very important to us so that our guests and we ourselves can feel comfortable at Tarisha. You can view our hygiene concept here.

  • Why are both the recipient and the masseur usually naked in tantric massage?

In Tantric massage, we meet on a level where we are allowed to be fully present with everything that is there. This attitude is also evident in the fact that both the recipient and the masseur are naked. Clothing can create distance, lingerie can awaken desires, whereas nudity is primal. Being able to be naked before one another without shame or judgment creates a special space of equality and freedom.

  • Who will give me a massage?

You can see which massage therapists are available at Tarisha on which day in our calendar. When booking your appointment, you can ask for a specific therapist and book a session with them. However, it can also be a wonderful experience not to worry too much beforehand about who you'll be meeting for your massage. In tantric massage, it's not important what someone looks like or what type of man/woman you find attractive; what matters is the connection and the space you create together. All our massage therapists are well-trained and have extensive experience with touch. Perhaps you'd simply like to be surprised?

  • Is the massage given on a massage table or on a futon?

We usually massage on a futon on the floor. If you prefer a tantric massage on a massage table for health reasons, please let us know when booking your appointment. We have both a massage table and a futon available in every room. Some massages, such as most wellness massages and the SET, are only performed on a massage table.

  • Why aren't there shorter massage times?

To truly immerse yourself in the realm of tantric touch takes time. Tantric massage involves touching all parts of the body, incorporating both faster and slower movements. The invitation is to continually delve deeper into yourself and your body. A massage duration of less than 90 minutes simply isn't sufficient for this. The unique quality of tantric massage lies precisely in dedicating ample time to yourself and to touch, thereby valuing yourself. A relaxing wellness massage or a SET (Self-Help Session) might be more suitable if you have less time available.

  • Which illnesses constitute exclusion criteria for tantric massage?

If you are feeling acutely ill, please cancel your massage. Anything that could potentially be contagious is a reason to exclude you from a massage. Massage involves skin contact, and pathogens can also be transmitted through breathing. Please be mindful and honest about this. If an affected area of the body can be well protected, for example with a bandage, a massage may be possible in some cases, and the area will not be touched. For any physical limitations, please speak with us to discuss what is possible.

  • How can I prepare for my tantric massage?

Take some time to reflect and feel how you feel about the prospect of the massage. Notice anything that arises. You might want to mention one or two things during the initial consultation. On the day itself, it's recommended that you take time to prepare for the massage. Perhaps you'd like to go for a walk beforehand, enjoy a delicious meal, or do something nice for yourself. Allow yourself plenty of time to arrive at Tarisha relaxed and avoid the stress of a rushed parking search and appointment pressure. Even after your appointment, it's good to have some time for yourself, drink plenty of water, and reflect on the experience.

  • Is there any talking during the massage?

One of the invitations of tantric massage is to fully engage with yourself and your body. Therefore, everyday conversations should be avoided during the massage. Such conversations only distract you, and the atmosphere of the massage doesn't lend itself to this kind of talk. However, expressing your sensations and feelings can be important for being fully present in the massage. Speak your truth; you are part of your massage and have the right to take good care of yourself. Similarly, your massage therapist will approach you if they notice something and want to ask questions. In short: consider whether what you want to say will deepen your connection or create distance from the experience. Every massage is different; some involve no talking at all, others more.

  • How should I structure my day after the massage?

Drink plenty of fluids. Take some time for yourself to reflect on your experience. Perhaps you'd like to go out for a meal by yourself, take a walk, or do something nice for yourself in some other way. You might also want to internalize your experience further through meditation. We recommend not jumping straight back into your daily routine and work life, but allowing yourself some time to rest.

  • Massage prices are so high. Is there a cheaper massage available?

The price of a tantric massage can be a challenge for some. It's justified, however, because this work of touch is very intense, and your massage therapist is fully present and attentive to you. We take time for you to talk before and after the massage, and you can shower here. You only pay for the actual time spent in touch. In a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere, you'll receive a very special form of reverence and appreciation. The massage is therefore absolutely worth the financial exchange. You can also experience equally appreciative touch in our more affordable wellness massages or a SET (Self-Help Session).

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE MASSAGE APPOINTMENT PROCESS

  • Can I drop by for a massage on short notice?

Please always call first. It's often possible to get an appointment at short notice. However, to allow yourself time to mentally prepare for the unique experience of tantric massage and to give your massage therapist some lead time, it's recommended to book your appointment a few days in advance.

  • What do I need to bring?

At Tarisha, everything you need for showering and massage is provided. However, if you only tolerate a specific shampoo or shower gel, please bring your own. You can pay in cash or by card.

  • Can I shower at the doctor's office?

You have the opportunity to shower at Tarisha before and after your massage. Towels, shampoo, shower gel, and some styling products are available for your use. Showering here is not only important for hygiene, but also allows you to consciously transition from your everyday life into the space of the Tatra massage; and back again after the massage.

  • How far in advance should I book my massage?

You can book your appointment well in advance. This gives you time to prepare yourself mentally. Calling a few days before your desired appointment is a good idea, so you and your massage therapist can plan accordingly. A tantric massage session takes time. You arrive, perhaps shower, there's a preliminary discussion, and then the massage begins. Afterwards, there's also an opportunity to shower and chat. While our massage therapists occasionally have availability for spontaneous appointments, booking in advance increases your chances of getting your preferred time.

  • What do I do if I can't make my appointment after all?

It can always happen that you can't make your massage appointment. If this is the case, please cancel or reschedule as early as possible. This allows your massage therapist to adjust their schedule accordingly. Preparing the room and creating the right mindset for the massage are essential for every session. Therefore, we kindly ask you to call and let us know in any case.

  • Can I pay by card or bank transfer?

You can pay by card or cash at Tarisha. Payment by bank transfer is currently not possible.

  • How long before the appointment should I arrive at the practice?

Please arrive on time for your appointment. Your massage therapist has prepared the room and will be ready for you at that time. If you arrive early, everything might not be ready yet. There will be time for a brief consultation and a shower before the massage. The booked time begins with the massage itself.

  • I have a lot to talk about. How long do the preliminary and follow-up discussions last?

The duration of consultations varies greatly from person to person. They typically last 10 to 15 minutes. A "taster session" offers an opportunity to get to know us and speak in detail with a massage therapist. This gives you time to ask all your questions and familiarize yourself with the space. You'll receive a voucher towards any massage that follows. If you need more time to discuss your sexuality, needs, desires, fears, or personal issues, a sex coaching session might be right for you. In this type of coaching, the time allotted for conversation, exercises, and touch is distributed differently, and your specific concerns are the primary focus.

  • Can I extend the massage time during the appointment?

Your massage therapist will adjust to the planned duration of your massage. If you feel the need to extend the contact time during the massage, you can ask. Sometimes this is possible, depending on your therapist's schedule and how your session is going. Each additional half hour of contact time costs 50 euros. However, it can also be nice to enjoy the massage as planned and simply come back and book more time in advance.
